Registering and Voting Process
League of Women Voters of Moscow, Idaho
(From the Political Directory* maintained by the League of
Women Voters of Moscow, Idaho.)
Voter Registration
Registration
is required for the Primary, General, Municipal, and County-wide
elections. To
register, one must be a U.S.
citizen, 18 years old, and a bona fide state and county resident
(30-day
residency). All cities have city-county joint registration. You must
re-register if you move, have a name change, or if you fail to vote at
a
primary or general election during a 4-year period. You may obtain
voting registration forms at the county clerk's office at the
courthouse, city clerk offices,
county DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles), and the public library. Registration closes 30 days
prior to the
election. However, one can register
to vote the day of election by appearing in
person at the polling place for the precinct in which the individual
maintains
residence, completing a registration card, making an oath, and
providing proof
of residence, together with a picture identification card.
Absentee Voting
Written application for absentee voting must
be filed with the County
Clerk no later
than the
day preceding the election. Title 50 (city provisions) do not allow for
absentee ballot requests prior to 60 days before the election. Under
Title 34
(primary and general elections - partisan) there is not a first day
provision
for accepting absentee ballot requests. For more information on
registration or
absentee voting, contact the Latah County Clerk, 882-8580, or Moscow
City
Clerk, 883-7000.
The Primary Election is held in even-numbered years on the 4th
