Dear Sangha friends,
I hope this letter finds everyone well and surviving the cold. It's been a little while since we managed to get a newsletter out. I hope you have all been patient as you waited. Things have quieted down a bit since we had our Long Life Puja for Rinpoche. Since then we have sent a delegation to Nelson for a gompa work party and offered a class in Lo Jong for folks here in Moscow. Thanks to all who participated and helped with these events.
On the weekend of November 14th, I'll be returning to Nelson for the annual Presidents' meeting. This year most of the presidents will be attending via conference call rather than in person. I'm thinking I'd like to go up in person anyway, though. Would anyone like to accompany me? Then on December 18th we have Tsong Khapa day. We will celebrate this day in honor of the founder of the Gelug tradition at our center with a tsog potluck. Bring some food and come on down!
By the time you receive this newsletter you will probably have already discovered another of our projects in your mailbox. It's time once again to encourage our members and friends to send in their membership dues and/or pledges of support for GBLT. Please consider purchasing a membership and helping to support dharma activities in our community.
The approach of the holiday season means we are all going to be getting busier for a while. I'd like to take the time now to ask each of you to think about what the GBLT center should do for its members and the community in the coming year. Would you like to have more Vajrayana initiations/teachings? A more indepth Lam Rim class? An introduction to Tantra study group? Should we help more with gathering items for the food bank? Explore working with local hospice providers? I hope you will think (perhaps meditate?) on this question and share your ideas with me or another board member. I'm looking forward to another year of dharma study with all of you. May your insights and realizations bloom and your hearts be always warm.
Best Wishes,
Brian
