Message from Rinpoche

Dear Sangha

I wish you have meaningful and fulfilling summer. I am enjoying the summer so far being in the nature listening the birds and wind

At the same time it has been hard spring and summer because of the sickness and deaths of parents of some of our Sangha members in Canada and Australia.

I would like to request you to practise Medicine Buddha Sadhana, Mahamudra and Lo Jong for the benefits of all.

Introduction to Buddhism class continues on Tuesdays

Carolea Webb has agreed to facilitate an Introduction to Buddhism class this fall at the center on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 9th. Weeknight evenings seemed to work well with people last spring, and we hope will continue to work. Please let us know if Tuesday evening isn't good for you, and we'll try to work something out.

This fall we will be studying Mind Training (called Lo Jong in Tibetan) which is a method of cultivating a compassionate mind and heart. One trains the mind using "slogans", such as "Always apply only a joyful state of mind"; "Regard all phenomena as dreams"; and "Don't wait in ambush." We will use Pema Chodron's book Start Where You Are: A Guide to Compassionate Living which will be available at the center. Pema Chodron is an American Buddhist nun, and her writing is always very down-to-earth and helpful.

We anticipate a very enjoyable time this fall working with this text, hopefully gaining some insight in how better to live as Buddhists. Come join us!
