Visit from a western Buddhist teacher, Jhampa Shaneman, June 27 - 29

We are fortunate to have Jhampa Shaneman visit us, a teacher who has studied Buddhism for more than thirty years. At our center on Friday, June 27 he will teach about Death and Dying, the stages of the death process. On Saturday and Sunday, June 28-29, Jhampa will present the Three Principles of the Path to enlightenment, an introduction to how one can reach enlightenment, even within one lifetime.

Jhampa Shaneman studied under His Holiness Kyabje Ling Rinpoche who was the senior tutor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He spent over ten years studying and doing long retreats in India. He has studied under and translated for major teachers of all the schools of Tibetan Buddhism. In 1980 he entered the traditional Great Retreat where he remained in solitary retreat for 3-1/2 years. He then returned to Canada and has established three Dharma centers near Vancouver. He is one of the first westerners given permission by H.H. the Dalai Lama to teach all levels of Mahayana and Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism.

"Unborn emptiness has let go of the extremes of being and non-being.
Thus it is both the center itself and the central path.
Emptiness is the track on which the centered person moves."
~ Je Tsong Khapa
