A Letter from Rinpoche

Dear friends and supporters of Jamseng Zadoh Health Care Centre,

Greetings. I hope everything is going well with you. I wold like to give you short report on Jamseng Health care centre in Zadoh area. Jamseng is progressing slowly. Committee people told me every week about 90 people come to get Tibetan and Chinese medicines and treatments. Dr. Angok works there full time and Dr. Laidar works part time. Jamseng committee bought lots of Tibetan and Chinese medicines in December. Solar Panels set up and they have custom made traditional medicine cabinet and yak dung stoves. Many people in Jamseng area of Yol Nin Gar are very thankful. Monks and Nuns from local monasteries are also very happy.

I will be returning to Zadoh in July of 2003. I wish to do more fundraising for Jamseng and start organizing things for next 14 months. Time fly fast. I am thinking what is the main goal of our journey to Zadoh and what are we going to do when we go there next year? As before we will take more medicines and some equipment. I am also thinking that I would like to organize meeting with Zadoh county officials to talk about public health and clean water and garbage recycling, etc. Your support and your input and suggestions are appreciated. Due to your support and your kindness we now have good little clinic called Jamseng and people of Zadoh are happier and their spirit is high.

That is all for now. You will hear from me many times.

Love and blessings,
Zasep Rinpoche

GBLT's Study Groups

I think anyone who facilitates a study group at GBLT feels at least a little uneasy. You end up playing the role of the teacher, but you end up learning more than any of the other participants! With the direction of Zasep Tulku Rinpoche, and a wealth of excellent textbooks, it's fun and valuable even if all you do is chat a little and try out some meditation skills.

Last year, Lori Batina and I facilitated about 24 classes. Lori focused on meditation itself (including breath, awareness and visualization) and I led a series of discussions on Buddhist philosophy. I also led a group at the K House (on the WSU campus) called "Meditation in the Tibetan Buddhist Tradition." It was tricky trying to lead these classes. One week, ten people would show up, the next week only two. Some participants had studied Buddhism for years, others had not studied at all. But there was always a good discussion to be had, and by the end of the spring, it seemed that some of the students were developing skills that could help for a lifetime.

Barring any major catastrophes, I believe Lori and I are ready to provide new and improved versions of the study groups for the 2002-2003 school year. For my part, I'm prepared to lead a six-week session in the fall and another in the spring. Plus, I'll lead the meditation group at the K House every Tuesday at noon throughout the two semesters. Many details are yet to be arranged, so feel free to contact us by phone or email toward late summer. We're happy to hear about your particular interests.
