Hi Everybody! If you're thinking that it feels like a long time since you've heard from us -- you're right! This is our first newsletter since last year at this time. To say that it has been a busy and eventful year for GBLT would be a bit of an understatement. Fasten your seatbelt and I will try to bring you up to date on some of the most important events we have enjoyed.
First and foremost, our beloved and precious teacher, Zasep Tulku Rinpoche, has visited us twice since Fall '97. These visits were of incalculable benefit to us as always. Our other wonderful news is that this year GBLT has attained its own Gompa (meditation room)!! We are located at 525 S. Main in the same building as the Moscow Yoga Center, down the hall, first door on the left. While we will be ever grateful to Jeri Stewart for the use of the Yoga Center for two years, we are really enjoying having this space. It is good to have a home. We have decorated it (with Ruby's ever present energy) with a colorful and spirited Tibetan feel. Our members enjoy discussion groups on Wednesday nights, occasional Tsog ceremonies, a Vajrasattva meditation led by Rich on Monday nights, and our usual Sunday morning meditation. We are also beginning a Union of Sutra and Tantra one year study of Lam Rim on Sunday afternoons. Our center is a very active and beautiful place! It has a warm and loving feeling already. Everyone is welcome to drop in and meditate with us. No previous meditation experience is necessary.
In more mundane news, Golden Blue Lotus Tara has written and passed bylaws, and we have become a non-profit organization. These are important organizational steps, and we feel very grateful to Zuru Ling in Vancouver, BC for giving us a good model to use for the bylaws. We have started what we hope will become a GBLT tradition. The Weekend After Labor Day Rummage Sale! This year the sale was at Ruby's house and proved to be very successful. Thanks to everyone who donated their items for sale. And thanks to Ruby for letting us completely overtake her house, porch and garage for the whole weekend! Ruby made it so much fun to be there -- even carrying heavy boxes in the rain seemed like fun. Opportunities for karma yoga abounded, but we did enjoy the experience. We want to make this an annual event, so save your treasures.
I hope to see everyone at our upcoming teachings by Cyndy Roomy and Chuck Damov! Come see our Dharma center!
