GBLT'ers were on the Dharma road this winter!

Many of us had the great good fortune to travel to Vancouver, B.C. or to Nelson, B.C. to receive teachings from Khalkha Jetsun Dhampa, who is one of Zasep Tulku Rinpoche's gurus. His Holiness Khalkha Jetsun Dhampa's position in Mongolia is equivalent to His Holiness the Dalai Lama's position in Tibet. He is highly revered by both Tibetans and Mongolians. Since His Holiness spoke no English, Rinpoche and Jhampa Shaneman did a wonderful job of translating for him. These teachings were well worth the miles!

Zasep Tulku Rinpoche will be back in Moscow again this summer! He will lead a Mahamudra/Vipassana retreat on the weekend of July 24th and 25th. We look forward to his teachings on Mahamudra, and his presence at our center. Thank you, Rinpoche, for your generosity of the Dharma!

In the fall, Rinpoche plans to return to his homeland, Tibet. He is traveling there in August and September to set up a medical facility in his hometown, which will benefit the townspeople as well as the monks in his former monastery. If anyone is interested in donating either medical supplies or money to this project, you can contact me at 882-1020.

GBLT certainly has not been without its obstacles this winter. Patti Gora, who has some experience with non-profit constitutions, discovered that our constitution, which we adopted a couple of years ago, was not a complete constitution at all. Thanks to her good eye, our error, which could have had significant ramifications, has been discovered and we are now in the process of re-writing our constitution to make it a viable document that will be useful to the center for years to come. We owe Patti a great and profound thank you for her help in this matter.

Wesak, one of the most important days in Tibetan Buddhism is coming up on Sunday, May 30th. It is the anniversary of the Buddha's birth, enlightenment and parinirvana. On this day, it is believed that the positive merit gained from meritorious actions is multiplied by 100,000. Traditionally, Tibetans make lots of offerings on this day. Especially offerings of light. Happy Wesak to everybody!

Thanks to our Sangha and extended Sangha for your generosity and hard work this winter. As usual, when I look back it is impossible to believe how much we have accomplished together! Now we are looking forward to a visit from our precious teacher very soon, and a chance to share more Dharma experiences and memories. Our devotion and commitment to Dharma strengthens!

Happy Spring! Happy Wesak!
