Dear Fellow Lions Club
Members:
Congratulations to
all Moscow Central Lions’ members. Inserted in this
month’s Lions Tales is an Earth Day letter from our
Moscow Mayor Nancy
Chaney.
She extended her gratitude to us for making Moscow a better place to live.
She especially recognized us for our environmental and energy conservation
efforts. The
Mayor’s Earth Day Award certificate is on display
during our meetings in May. I especially thank the 13 members who
cleaned
Paradise Creek in April and all who are participating in
selling Compact
Florescent Lights and Garbage Bags. We do make a difference.
We have an
“Angel” this month for
Lion of the Month. An “Angel” is one who
we know is making something nice happen but we are not sure how it happens.
Lion Christie Pernestiner is our “Angel” and our “Lion of April” and her son
the “Cub of April”. During the past three years this angel has been
assembling approximately 3,000 “White Canes” each year for White Cane Days.
Also Lion Christie and her son helped in the cleaning of Paradise Creek. We
are very fortunate to have “Angel” Lion Christie as a member of our Club.
Speaking of
White Cane Days, what a success we had this past Friday and
Saturday. We received in community donations $3,011.76, the largest we have
ever gathered. This is because all time slots were filled thanks to you and
Lion John Dixon.
The coordination of
Lion Don Polley with the aid of
Lion
Nate Strong and
Lion Jeff Harkins
made the two days enjoyable (the weather
helped) and almost flawless. A big thanks is given to you that took double
shifts.
$30 is the dues for the
One Percent Club. If you wish acknowledgement from
the NW Lions Foundation for your taxes, pay by check and give a note to Lion
Nate tilling him your wishes. Non-members can still belong to the One
Percent Club.
We as Lions give our sympathy to
Lion Ray Barker during this time of
mourning of his wife Sara’s death. Also we are hoping “Angels” are looking
over
Secretary Ed Christian during his recovery of a Staph infection to his
hip. We never know. So live life to its fullest in serving yourself, family
and community.
Yours in Lionism,
Jim DeShazer
