The Deary Fire District was formed in 1948. It covers an area of 140 square miles, over 1200 structures and 2200 population and a $58,000,000 tax base. Our first fire chief was Bob Denevan. Currently we have 23 members in the all-volunteer department. Our taxing district has an annual budget of $29,000; taxes are assessed at a rate of $50.00 per $100,000 of assessed valuation.
