Deary Fire Department and Ambulance participated in a program through Cornell University's Farmedic training. The program has been offered by Cornell for over 20 years and due to the high numbers of agricultural and logging equipment in our area, we thought it a very valuable and informative. Thanks to our instructor, Brad Carico, who came up from Caldwell, Idaho to teach the program. Many thanks to Murray Stanton who allowed us to come to his farm and see his equipment in operation. |
Deary Fire and Ambulance Crew "On the Farm." |
Brad Carico, instructor (l) watches as Newspaper Man is wrapped up in the PTO shaft. Murray Stanton operates his tractor as Ken Wildes and John Mozingo look on. Glad I'm not in there! |
Brad shows l to r: Dan Cochrane, Patsy Whitcomb and Rob Lundy about the operation of PTO safety equipment. |
More equipment on display at Stanton's Farm. |
Practice, practice, practice! Ambulance medics and firefighters work to extricate a "victim" in an overturned tractor. Firefighters practiced stabilization, air bag lifting and cribbing operations as well as incident command. EMS personnel worked to evaluate and stabilize their patient among all the firefighter's activites.
