    Fall Camporee/Cuboree
Report 2005

Once again we had a great Camporee! The morning came a bit brisk at 21* but it warmed up quickly and was very pleasant by noon. Over 240 Scouts and Scouters registered this year.  We had many more Cubs at the morning activities. They all had a fine time trying to pitch a tent with their eyes closed, start a fire with no matches and trying to find their way with a compass.  After lunch the troops each had an activity for the Cubs to do.  Troop 455 from Palouse won the Best Cub Activity Award.  At 2:30 we started the bike race.  The Cubs were the first to race; we had so many of them they were split into two groups.  I don’t know the exact number but it I think about 30 Cubs ran the race. The Boy Scouts went next. There were only 9 of them and most had borrowed their little brothers’ bikes.  It was a lot of fun watching them ride a tiny bike cross country.

As the sun faded the bean dishes came out.  Eleven entries were judged and Troop 326 had the best dish.  This was the first year a Cub pack competed and they came in second. The competition may really heat up in the years to come.

As darkness fell the campfire was lighted.  Each troop had a song or a skit to add and the awards were given out.

In all it was a great weekend!  I would like to thank all the volunteers that spent time making this possible.  I would also like to thank all of the leaders that organized their kids and brought them to the camporee; without them we would not have this event.  Mark January 21st on your calendars for a super Klondike Derby!

Thanks again,   Brad Cook, Camporee Chief
