KLONDIKE DERBY INFO
Held
January 21, 2006 The Klondike was held January 21st at Moose Creek Reservoir with 2.5 feet of snow. For the first time in many years the trail had to be packed down with snowmobiles. 160 boys from 16 troops and 8 packs participated and made the 3.2mile trek; the average lap time was 3 hours. It was a perfect day with sun in the morning and a snowstorm in the afternoon. The boys had 6 activities to complete on the course with the favorite being a survival course. The boys had to find shelter materials in a web of twine and not ring any of the bells. They had to work as a team to get through an obstacle course and finally build a shelter. The big prize at the axe safety station, my car, was not won, many attempts came close but in the end I got to drive home. Our District Executive Darrel Keim won the biggest smile award, if you were there you know why. I thank all that took time to bring the boys and volunteered to make this an outstanding Klondike.
